Suspects Arrested in Friday Attack, Victim Dies

Police say the man who was attacked near Lake Lowell Friday morning thought he was initially meeting a man he’d met online to pay for sex, but instead, was ambushed by four men.

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office says there was a report of a suspicious person in Gott Point Neighborhood around 5:45 a.m., knocking on doors with no clothes on. That’s when they found Steven Nelson had been severely beaten and robbed.

Canyon County sheriff Kieran Donahue says the victim, Steven Nelson, died from a cardiac arrest.

Police arrested four people:  Kelly Schneider, Kevin Tracy, Jayson Woods, and Daniel Henkel, all from the Nampa and Caldwell area.

Each suspect was charged with robbery and murder in the first degree. On top of those charges, Schneider was also charged with grand theft.

Police think there might have been other attacks similar to this one that haven’t been reported. The sheriff’s office encourages those to come forward.

All four suspects will be arraigned on Monday.
