Sen. Crapo calls on VA Secretary to fix program, ASAP

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo says the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is doing an overall good job of getting more funding for veterans’ healthcare, but how it’s being done isn’t working so well.

“What we’re finding out from our vets is this Choice Program is not being implemented well by the Veterans’ Administration, and that there’s a lot of problems, particularly in the rural areas,” Crapo said.

The Veterans’ Choice Program allows veterans who don’t have VA facilities nearby to use civilian hospitals at VA expense.  But Crapo says they’re still facing the same problems veterans have at VA hospitals…long waits.  He’s written a letter to VA Secretary Bob McDonald asking to get the program working ASAP.
