I Want My MTV

So I’m watching the MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday. It’s a guilty pleasure. I enjoy the music, watching a few talented acts perform, but mostly I watch for the behavior.

Celebrities who are misunderstood for their genius or celebrities that think they matter more than they do.

I watched. I enjoyed most of the acts.

Miley Cyrus was the host and it seems as she was forcing herself to be validated more than she has before. Language, crotch grabbing, drug references, sexual innuendo… yup.

Not much has changed on MTV. Miley’s act isn’t new, she’s just the one carrying the mantel for the new generation.

At the very least, for 3 hours, music returned to MTV.
