Idaho Wildfire Update

Here is the Latest on Wildfires burning in our area.

***The Gardena Fire has been fully contained, and both equipment and crews have been released to fight other fires now.  The blaze started around 5 p.m. Sunday and grew to what fire crews now say is 213 acres.  It also forced the closure of Highway 55 Sunday evening. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

***The Shirts Fire is also active today 9 miles south of Indian Valley near Shirts Creek. This fire is said to have been lightninig caused and burned around 1500 acres, with no time of containment.  The biggest problem with the Shirts Fire is it’s limited access, but crews are on the scene.

***The Indian Creek Fire is still burning today 10 miles northwest of Dubois.  This fire was reported yesterday afternoon around 1:30pm and is beilieved to have been human caused and fueled by some erratic winds from a passing thunderstorm.

Full containment was expected overnight, and the fire burned some 147 acres at last update.
